Description:Using principles of case management and utilization review, works effectively with all levels of the organization and the medical community to coordinate services to improve quality of patient care, efficiency, controlling costs, and monitoring outcomes.
Duties:(This list may not include all of the duties assigned):
1. Assists patient care needs and suggests solutions to patient care crisis problems.
2. Triage immediate medical needs for quality assurance concerns.
3. Clinical support for critical issues, i.e. sterilization process and documentation, monitoring vaccine and medication shortages, crash cart expert.
4. Serves as a liaison between front and back office staff to ensure efficient communication and problem solving.
5. Serves as a liaison between the Safety & Wellness and Patient & Clinical Support Departments.
6. Serves as a liaison with the medical community, staff, and insurers regarding referrals and utilization issues.
7. Serves as a role model for others through compliance with OMG policies, OSHA, and state/federal labor laws.
8. Assists with clinical KWP and CSS implementation/audit.
9. Assists in the development of protocols, procedures and policies as requested.
10. Plans and conducts initial training and continuing education of clinical staff, back office orientation and back office skills check off.
11. Assists with referral review process.
12. Assists patients and staff to resolve concerns regarding patient care, referral and billing questions.
13. Investigates and resolves insurance coverage questions with health plan representatives as necessary.
14. Documents all inquiries for medicologal/statistical purposes.
15. Participates in quality improvement activities as appropriate, identifies problems and offers suggestions for improvement.
16. Participates in professional development activities to keep current with health care trends and practices.
17. Attends staff meetings as required.
18. Maintains strictest confidentiality.
19. Ongoing customer service training.
Qualifications:1. Knowledge of nursing theory and practice to give and evaluate patient care.
2. Basic counseling skills and a positive, enthusiastic, and helpful personality to provide excellent patient service.
3. Knowledge of community resources.
4. Good computer and typing skills.
5. Knowledge of organization policies, regulations and procedures to administer patient care.
6. Knowledge of common safety hazards and precautions to establish a safe work environment.
7. Skill in identifying problems and recommending solutions.
8. Skill in preparing and maintaining records, writing reports, and responding to inquiries.
9. Skill in developing and maintaining quality assurance.
10. Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with patients, medical staff and the public.
11. Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.
12. AA or BSN in nursing from an accredited school of nursing.
13. 3-5 years of professional nursing experience in a clinical setting and/or experience in a home care setting and/or medical/surgical or ambulatory setting preferred.
14. Supervisory experience helpful.
15. Possession of a current Oregon Registered Nurse License required.
16. Current healthcare level CPR certification required.
