| Description: | Coordinates communication received from physicians regarding patient prescription refills and enters patient data into the computer system to report patient information to primary care physicians.
This position is On Call only to assist with vacation relief. |
| Duties: | (This list may not include all of the duties assigned):
1. Receives calls from physicians for refills of prescriptions for patients.
2. Enters data into computer system.
3. Disseminates accurate and timely information to the primary care physician via the computer.
4. Receives and records accurate information from hospitalists regarding patients and enters this data into the computer so that it is accessible to the primary care provider.
5. Maintains strictest confidentiality.
6. Ongoing Customer Service Training.
7. Performs other duties as assigned.

| Qualifications: | 1. Skill in answering the telephone in a pleasant and helpful manner.
2. Ability to speak clearly and concisely.
3. Ability to read, understand and follow oral and written instruction.
4. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, medical staff, employees and the public.
5. Knowledge of Windows, Microsoft Word, and Outlook Express.
6. Basic knowledge of medical terminology.
7. Ability to handle stressful situations.
8. Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with internal and clinic staff.
9. Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
10. Knowledge of medical office procedures.
11. Knowledge of grammar, spelling and punctuation to type patient information.
Education: Equivalent of a high school diploma.
Experience: One year of experience in a medical setting. General clerical experience preferred, and knowledge of medical terminology preferred.
