| Description: | Performs venipuncture and capillary puncture on patients, including children, and other laboratory duties as assigned.

| Duties: | (This list may not include all of the duties assigned)
1. Performs venipuncture and capillary punctures on patients. Identifies and labels specimens.
2. Conducts designated laboratory testing by standard procedures.
3. Receives and collects specimens.
4. Organizes and prioritizes work duties.
5. Identifies and labels specimens.
6. Prepares equipment to efficiently collect blood products.
7. Assists in care of patient prior to, during and after phlebotomy.
8. Instructs patients in urine collection procedures and allocates urine specimens.
9. Answers telephone, takes messages and provides routine laboratory information.

| Qualifications: | REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Equivalent of a high school diploma.
2. Knowledge of chemistry, biology or related fields preferred.
3. 1-2 years in a medical laboratory.
4. Must have phlebotomy experience.
5. Knowledge of laboratory techniques to perform routine laboratory test.
6. Knowledge of laboratory equipment and testing to perform quality control checks.
7. Knowledge of chemistry to understand and identify reactions involved in testing.
8. Skill in preparing written reports concerning the results of laboratory test.
9. Skill in anticipating and reacting calmly to emergency situations.
10. Ability to follow written protocols.
11. Must be detail oriented.
