| Description: | Provides general back office support including filing medical reports in patient chart, retrieving voice mail messages, requests or locating necessary charts, making patient appointments for outside of assigned clinic, and assisting in the delivery of primary health care and patient care management. |
| Duties: | (This list may not include all of the duties assigned.)
1. Maintains patient confidentiality.
2. Files all signed lab results, specialist reports and hospital records in patient charts in a timely manner.
3. Retrieves voice mail messages and requests or locates the necessary charts.
4. Schedules patient appointments with other clinics.
5. Assists with scheduling of tests.
6. Accompanies patients to other areas of clinic as directed.
7. Completes laboratory requisitions.
8. Calls in refill prescriptions.
9. Repairs damaged charts.
10. Answers telephone and gives routine information in accordance with established procedures.
11. Duplicates documents and forms as directed.
12. Attends required meetings and participates in committees as requested.
13. Enhances professional growth and development through in-service meeting and education programs.
14. Must be organized and good at setting priorities.
15. Must be flexible and have good team skills.
16. Ability to handle fast paced, high volume flow of patients and tasks.
17. Follows established policies and procedures.
18. Escorts patients to room and assists in determining medical problem.
19. Prepares patients for examination and treatment.
20. Takes patient histories and vital signs.
21. Prepares exam rooms and instruments for examination and/or testing.
22. Stocks supplies.
23. Gives injections and applies splints and dressing.
24. Responds to and refers incoming telephone calls.
25. Instructs patients and family regarding medications and treatment instructions.
26. Assist in the referral process.
27. Performs other duties as assigned.

| Qualifications: | REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Certification from the American Association of Medical Assistants preferred; graduation from an accredited MOA program required.
2. Knowledge of common OSHA safety hazards and precautions to maintain a safe work environment.
3. Willing to work in back office environment with patient contact.
4. Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with staff.
5. Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency and stressful situations.
6. Ability to read, understand and respond to detailed oral and written instructions.
7. Ability to communicate clearly.
8. Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
9. Ability to file and maintain patient records, files, reports and other correspondence.
10. Good telephone and people skills.
11. Typing and computer skills.
12. High school diploma or equivalent.
13. 1-2 years previous experience in medical clinic preferred.
