| Description: | Responsible for cast management for patients. |
| Duties: | (This list may not include all of the duties assigned)
1. Varied activities including sitting, standing, walking, bending, reaching, and lifting.
2. Occasionally lifts and carries items weighing up to 30 pounds.
3. Occasional stress related to multiple responsibilities and to working irregular hours.
4. Combination of office and clinic settings.
5. Occasional exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, ionizing radiation, medicinal preparations and other conditions common to a clinic environment.
6. Provides quality orthopedic care in the casting room for patients requiring immobilization including: applying, removing and assessing need for change of all types of orthopedic immobilization devices; collaborating with orthopedic surgeons/staff in reviewing patient x-rays, and developing procedures for setting up aseptic fields, etc.
7. Coordinates cast room procedures and training.
8. Educates patients/families regarding application/wearing of orthotic devices and serves as a resource for patients via telephone.
9. Maintains patient care environment including: orders, receives and stores supplies/medications; cleans/stocks exam and procedure rooms.
10. Assists in the cleaning and sterilization of instruments.

| Qualifications: | 1. Full range of body motion, including manual finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination.
2. Corrected vision and hearing to normal range.
3. Knowledge of all types of orthopedic surgery cast management including all types of current forms of immobilization from plaster cast technique to the last types if plastic and fiberglass casting, bracing and orthosis.
4. Minimum of two years experience in orthopedics as an orthopedic technologist.
5. Certification by National Association of Orthopedic Technologists desired.
